The concept proposal for the City Viewing Platforms at Tanglang Mountain in Shenzhen’s Nanshan District reimagines architectural intervention as a light, respectful presence within a highly sensitive natural landscape. The design prioritises visitor comfort while minimising impact on the mountain environment, allowing the landscape to remain the primary experience.

Architecture is conceived as an extension of the terrain, inviting nature into the built form by revealing and celebrating the summit and existing rock formations.
These geological elements are retained and framed within the pavilions, offering visitors a heightened awareness of place and a deeper understanding of coexistence between architecture and nature. To enrich the hiking experience for visitors of all ages, a 600-metre-long elevated “tree walk” winds through the landscape, connecting two major pavilions positioned on separate peaks. This scenic route encourages movement, pause, and reflection, transforming the journey itself into an integral part of the experience.
Together, the pavilions and tree walk form a restrained yet expressive intervention — one that enhances engagement with the mountain while preserving its natural character and ecological integrity.
