About
At PMDL, we combine collaborative culture with rigorous process.
Working across disciplines and in partnership with our clients, we create innovative outcomes for people and places.

Our story
PMDL is an international architecture, interior design and masterplanning practice. From our studios in Sydney, Melbourne, Geelong, Hong Kong and Macau, we operate as one practice with a shared perspective. Drawing on more than 30 years of experience, we bring clarity to briefs through collaboration and a set of defined tenets that continue to guide us.
Our work spans cities, sectors and disciplines, with recognised expertise across education, commercial, workplace, retail, leisure and hospitality environments. Each project draws on our collective knowledge and insight to shape thoughtful spaces that respond sensitively to their built and natural contexts.
Across all our work, we begin by clearly defining the problem. By placing people at the centre of our thinking and working in close partnership with project stakeholders, we deliver consistent outcomes with meaningful impact. Through open communication, proactive leadership and long-lasting relationships, we create value for clients and the communities they serve.

The PMDL story is one of experience built over more than 30 years.
PMDL and McGlashan Everist
In 2022, PMDL acquired McGlashan Everist, one of Melbourne’s most respected practices with a legacy of significant architecture dating back to 1955.
The partnership between David McGlashan and Neil Everist was renowned for a string of notable modernist houses across Melbourne, Geelong and the Mornington Peninsula, particularly throughout the 1960s and 1970s. At Neil Everist’s funeral, his daughter described their style as, “architecture was for living in, not looking at. Houses were evolved around each family and the surrounding landscape – elegantly designed to the final detail.”
The practice was awarded the Victorian Architecture Medal for the Grimwade House at Rye in 1963 and for Heide II in 1967. Built as the home of John and Sunday Reed, Heide II later became the Heide Museum of Modern Art. Additional significant projects include masterplans and major buildings for Geelong Grammar, along with the conversion of historic buildings to become Deakin University’s Woolstores Campus in Geelong.
