DFS Galleria
We continue to design cutting edge spaces for global retailers DFS Galleria. At present we are involved with store designs in Abu Dhabi and Hong Kong.
Currently under construction at Abu Dhabi International Airport is approximately 3,000 square meters of premium retail space. The design intent for this space was to enhance the existing bold architecture and interior – a trademark of the airport – such as the striking blue and green mosaic tiles. Materials were selected to enhance the spaces sense of place, using traditional Arabic patterns as column wrappings in feature joinery items. Radial tile patterns that relate to the existing structure were employed, and gold metallic finishes to the feature 'crown' structure over the luxury watch area. Patterns were an important part of the design vocabulary, used in graphic wallpapers, sandblasted feature marble, and patterned GRP forming the perimeter bulkhead.
